Update on Peregrine Fledgling.
She attempted to fly and had a rest and after another attempt has flown up into a nearby tree. Zoo vets were in attendance and observed through binoculars.
What a great outcome.

Guess what? The two girls seem to be back at the same Collins St window today! Here’s some more pics! Still curious about the humans behind the glass! We may be able to get a daily fix after all!

Re: Melbourne. 367 Collins Street
YOUNG FALCON INCIDENT XMAS, 2020
Another of the young falcons from 367 Collins came to grief at a Flinders St apartment this week. But the story ends well! Sometime on Christmas night, the falcon hit the building and landed on a glass balcony on the 28th floor, where she struggled to take off. Unlike the 'shoe shop falcon', she couldn't fly away; mild concussion was probably the cause. Luckily, apartment residents, Sarah and her parents are keen falcon watchers and recognised her. Wildlife rescuers were alerted and picked up the feisty falcon around 10.30 pm. With Boobook Wildlife Shelter organised to care for her overnight, she was first checked over at an emergency vet. There was nothing broken or any signs of illness, so she was taken in overnight for observation. In the morning, the young falcon was flying strongly and ate an offered quail, so a decision was made to release her at Treasury Gardens in the CBD. This went well. After a moment's hesitation, the bird emerged, walked a few metres, did a quick poo, then took off, giving one squark as she went. When we lost sight of her, she'd flown high into a tree.
For Sarah and her parents, Christmas 2020 was no doubt a memorable one and we thank them for caring, and for their kindness to us. For Boobook Wildlife Shelter, this was another wonderful result in a job that often involves heartbreak. And for me, it was a rare privilege to get so close to a beautiful, captivating bird.
